Esraa Zidan, born in 1990, Egypt, is a Cairo-based artist whose practice centers on the expressive potential of the human body and its emotional presence within space. Known for her bold, celebratory depictions of women in motion dancing, diving, or simply inhabiting joy, Zidan’s work challenges conventional ideals of beauty by reclaiming volume, gesture, and playfulness as sites of power and freedom. She holds a PhD focused on unconventional body proportions, as well as a master’s degree in Human Anatomy for Artists (2016). A graduate of the Faculty of Applied Arts (2012), Zidan has also contributed to academic life as an assistant lecturer at Helwan University, where she taught human anatomy, art branding, and cultural marketing. Her commitment to education extends beyond academia, offering professional development workshops in art marketing and creative branding both in Egypt and internationally. Since her first solo exhibition "The Neighbors of the Rainbow" at Azad Gallery in 2018, Zidan has steadily gained recognition for her distinctive painterly language. She has participated in a range of national and international exhibitions, including recent shows in the UAE and her 2023 presentation at Khawla Art Gallery. Across her practice, she continues to explore the poetics of form, movement, and self-acceptance ,forging a visual language that is at once playful, precise, and deeply resonant.
