Maya Art Space is proud to present renowned artist Fulvio Codsi.
Fulvio Codsi, born in 1965 and based in Beirut, is a self-taught artist known for his imaginative and dreamlike paintings. His artistic journey began with a passion for drawing, evolving over time to include acrylic painting and freehand airbrush techniques. Codsi’s works are inspired by ancient civilizations, blended with his own imagined future, resulting in a unique and enigmatic universe.
Since 1986, he has participated in numerous collective exhibitions in Lebanon and abroad, showcasing his distinctive style. Notable accolades include special mentions at the Sursock Museum’s “Salon d’Automne” in 1995 and 2004, as well as receiving the Jouhaïna Baddoura award in 2013.
Apart from painting, Codsi is also a full-time 2D animator, further expanding his creative expression. His paintings often feature hybrid characters reminiscent of Etruscan, Egyptian, and Incan cultures, set against earthy backgrounds with luminous effects and trompe l’oeil elements.
Inspired by comic books, Codsi’s paintings often depict fantastical forms influenced by ancient art but distinguished by his boundless imagination. He sees painting as an escape from the mundane realities of life, where spheres symbolize living beings and carry deeper metaphysical meanings.
