VOLTA BASEL ART FAIR 2025

Maya Art Space is proud to take part in Volta Art Fair 2025 with a curated presentation titled Arab Expressionism, featuring the works of Mona Nahleh, Ghylan Safadi, Fadi Balhawan, and Fulvio Codsi. Rooted in the emotional, cultural, and political fabric of the Arab world, this selection reflects the region’s complexity through deeply personal and expressive visual languages.

Each artist brings a distinct approach: Ghylan Safadi’s figurative works explore the tension between the seen and the felt, capturing moments of human vulnerability and psychological weight. Mona Nahleh’s layered paintings examine memory, womanhood, and the passing of time with tactile sensitivity. Fadi Balhawan draws inspiration from sacred texts and classic literature, embedding spiritual and historical references into richly symbolic compositions. Fulvio Codsi constructs imagined universes blending myth, memory, and modernity in a style that is both surreal and familiar.

Together, these works speak to a broader narrative of Arab identity — not as a fixed image, but as an evolving, expressive force shaped by history, imagination, and lived experience. Through Arab Expressionism, Maya Art Space reaffirms its mission to spotlight contemporary voices from the Middle East and connect them with global audiences.
